Amazon.com is still not promising any particular time for delivery of Kindles.  At its website, it suggests that customers order Kindle now to reserve their place in line.

Amazon says its working hard to manufacture Kindles as quickly as possible and are prioritizing orders on a first come, first served basis.

At this point, people who are interested in a date certain for Kindle delivery have eBay to rely on, but must pay a premium for the ability to get their Kindle sooner rather than later.

Although it’s now after Christmas (when you’d expect there’d be more Kindles on the market), “Buy It Now” prices are still high on eBay.  There is only one “Buy It Now” Kindle available at eBay – for $999.  That’s quite a bit higher than the $399 price that Amazon.com is charging — although Amazon.com does have a delay with deliveries.
