On its home page, Amazon.com announces that Kindles are in stock and ready for immediate shipment.
Since its initial introduction last fall, there has been a wait for anyone wanting to purchase a Kindle. For a while, the supply tightness was reflected in the elevated prices being paid for Kindles at eBay.
Now it looks like anyone who wants a Kindle, can purchase one and get it very quickly. Time will tell if this easy availability will now increase the Kindle’s popularity even more.

On its home page, Amazon.com announces its goal — starting a few weeks from now — to be able to send out newly-ordered Kindles on the same day they’re ordered. At present, Amazon.com is supplying Kindles on a first-come, first-served basis, which in some cases has resulted in a waiting period of up to six weeks, according to Amazon.com.
This ability to order and receive a Kindle promptly is likely to enhance the popularity of Kindles.
