TechCrunch reports that Amazon.com has sold some 240,000 Kindle units since the Kindle was introduced to the market in November 2007.  It also speculates in a posting entitled “Kindle 2.0 Coming Around October 2008” that a new Kindle model will hit the stores in time for the holiday season.  It looks like the Kindle is becoming a permanent part of the book-reading world.

  • One financial analyst speculates that the Amazon Kindle will do for ebooks what the iPod did for digital music — expand the market enormously.  According to this analyst, Amazon.com could sell more than $2.5 billion in eBooks by 2012.  That’s a lot of eBooks!  And, that’s not even taking into account any boost sales might be by the introduction of an Amazon Kindle 2.0 at some later point.
