In a recent posting on his Atlantic Magazine blog, accomplished writer/journalist/techie James Fallows has given his thumbs-up on the Kindle, noting that the Kindle is usable outside of the US since books can easily be downloaded over the Internet and transferred to the Kindle. This is not quite as simple as wirelessly downloading books to the Kindle as is possible in the US, but it still allows the Kindle to be useful outside of the US.

He also notes that the Kindle is a good generic document reader since it allows him to import lengthy documents or manuscripts (for later reading) very conveniently and inexpensively.

The one drawback he forsees is the possible displeasure of his wife at seeing him firing up “yet another digital device.”

If you haven’t yet bought your own Amazon Kindle, you can do so here with just a few clicks of your mouse.
